Palermo: Street Food Walking Tour with Local Guide & Tasting

About This Experience
This is a guided street food walk of about two and a half hours through Palermo's historic centre. The guide takes you past landmarks including Teatro Massimo, the Cathedral and the Quattro Canti and tells the story of the city, including the events linked to Garibaldi and the unification of Italy. Along the way you also get a basic layout of the centre, which is useful if you plan to come back and explore on your own afterwards.
The tour is offered in a morning and a later option, and the choice matters. A historic street market is part of the morning tour only, because the market is open only in the morning. Reviewers who booked the morning slot mention that the Capo market was covered and that part of the tasting took place there. Which slot suits you depends on whether you want market stalls in full swing or a later start with the same sights, so read the option names carefully.
Tastings include sfincione, crocché, panelle and arancine, stuffed with meat or butter, or a spleen sandwich. A Sicilian dessert closes the walk. The listing says the exact tastings vary with the season, so treat the list as typical rather than guaranteed. Because the menu changes with the season, ask your guide at each stop what you are eating and what is in season.
Vegetarian options are available, and you should tell the operator about any allergy or dietary restriction when you book. The tour is not suited to vegans or to people avoiding gluten or lactose. Drinks are not included, so plan to buy your own. The meeting point differs between options, so keep the confirmation message to hand and allow a little extra time to reach the right spot.

Manuela was a lovely guide, knowledgeable about all the food and very understanding of what people were not able to eat etc. Able to answer all questions and very personable. The food was great and fantastic to be able to taste all different kinds of food and watch some being made in the csbo market. The frozen cappocino is amazing have had more since. The cannoli were also out of this world and huge - able to eat them in such a beautiful place - courtyard with fountain, trees etc. Highly recommend.

We choose morning slot because it only had Mercato Del Capo covered and part of the tasting was there. Group was great and Alessandra was great as the guide. We really liked the tour and the food was great!

Frequently Asked Questions
Where exactly do we meet?
The tour has two meeting points and yours depends on the option you book. The exact address is shown in your booking confirmation, so check it after booking and before the day.
Does the tour include the market?
Only the morning tour does. The market is open only in the morning, so the later option covers the sights and tastings without it. If the market matters to you, choose the morning slot when you book.
Is it enough for a meal?
The listing describes tastings and a dessert rather than a full meal. Expect to try several classic street foods over two and a half hours. If you are very hungry, plan a light bite afterwards or choose a longer food tour.
Can vegetarians join, and what about allergies?
Vegetarian options can be arranged. Tell the operator about any allergies or dietary restrictions when you book. The listing says the tour is not suitable for vegans or people with gluten or lactose intolerance.
Are drinks included?
No. Drinks are listed as excluded, along with tips. The tastings and the closing dessert are covered, so bring a little cash or a card for any drinks you want during the walk, as nothing liquid is covered.
